Three causes of aluminum alloy crack

Nov 03, 2021

The crack of aluminum profile is the transverse tearing phenomenon of metal formed on the surface with different degrees due to tensile stress during extrusion. Three causes of aluminum alloy cracks:

1. Due to friction, the metal surface is affected by additional tensile stress. When the additional tensile stress is greater than the tensile strength of the surface metal, cracks will occur.

2. When the extrusion temperature is too high, the tensile strength of the metal surface decreases and cracks occur under the action of friction.

3. When the extrusion speed is too fast, the additional tensile stress on the metal surface increases, causing cracks in the profile.

Only by strictly controlling the extrusion process parameters to ensure a reasonable outlet speed and outlet temperature can the phenomenon of cracks in aluminum profiles be reduced. This requires the company to strictly check and supervise the production process.
